Acetone Baths: When it does not work

This is a video that everyone that has good intentions needs to watch as it took me some digging on the internet to find the answers....which that most if not all collectors will chuck out these specimens and not use them. "Hard water stains" as Ive been calling them in my head are not, at this stage, fixable/removeable. Please do not stress if you have this happen! I forgot to mention in the video, you will know if this is the case if you have tried an acetone bath for a couple of hours and the acetone is still clear/the stain has not moved.

I have had to split this into 3 lots as the app I used to stitch the videos had capacity limits. In Part 1 I failed to articulate the importance of cleaning the frame is really so once the insects are good to go back into a frame, there won't be dead book lice that fall out and make it look dirty/bad again.

Acetone Baths: My preferred method

This is a video that shows my preferred method of restoring the abdomens of birdwings. Unfortunately I did not film the framing of the specimen - this is where the reattachment happens but to quickly explain I glue the specimen down and once this is set and solid, I will reattach the abdomen. This allows for a perfect alignment and centralisation of it, as well as it not mattering if some glue drips down the body. I will try and film this next time :)
